The Friday Five for 11 December 2020: Winter Is Coming
If you are in the Southern Hemisphere, feel free to write about summer rather than winter.
1) What is your favorite thing about the winter?
2) What is your favorite winter sport?
3) What is the best winter treat?
4) What is the earliest time in the year it ever snowed where you live?
5) What is the best way to stay warm in the winter?
Copy and paste to your own journal, then reply to this post with a link to your answers. If your journal is private or friends-only, you can post your full answers in the comments below.
If you'd like to suggest questions for a future Friday Five, then do so on DreamWidth or LiveJournal. Old sets that were used have been deleted, so we encourage you to suggest some more!
**Remember that we rely on you, our members, to help keep the community going. Also, please remember to play nice. We are all here to answer the questions and have fun each week. We repost the questions exactly as the original posters submitted them and request that all questions be checked for spelling and grammatical errors before they're submitted. Comments re: the spelling and grammatical nature of the questions are not necessary. Honestly, any hostile, rude, petty, or unnecessary comments need not be posted, either.**

Snow, when it happens! I like it when it comes down thick and covers everything several feet deep.
2) What is your favorite winter sport?
I'm not a sports person. Umm, I guess hiking in the snow?
3) What is the best winter treat?
Hot buttered rum :)
4) What is the earliest time in the year it ever snowed where you live?
Depends on how you define "earliest". When I lived in Los Alamos NM, it snowed on the last day of classes, June 2; it snowed in July one year, too. I never saw it snow in August. It snowed in September several times.
5) What is the best way to stay warm in the winter?
Put your feet against your girlfriend's tummy.

Snow - that is when I don't have to shovel it! Snow can be so beautiful to watch when it's falling and when you can just relax inside and take in its beauty.
2) What is your favorite winter sport?
I don't partake in any winter sports myself. Maybe walking through the woods in winter can be a lovely thing to do. I don't really watch any winter sports either unless it's something like the Olympics, and then I enjoy watching skiing in its various forms.
3) What is the best winter treat?
Hot chocolate!
4) What is the earliest time in the year it ever snowed where you live?
Depends on what you see as early. It snowed in April one year, which would probably be considered quite late. December is the earliest I've ever seen it snow in my area.
5) What is the best way to stay warm in the winter?
Hot chocolate, my warm shawl and blanket, a hot water bottle, snuggling up with my husband.

I did both seasons :)
1) What is your favorite thing about the winter? Being curled up in front of a good heater, with old-fashioned roast dinners and other comfort food that is best ion cold weather and hot drinks. My soft fuzzy dressing gown and socks. About the summer? I like sunshine but have to keep out of it... summer barbeques with the family.
2) What is your favorite winter sport? Figure skating is my one and only spectator sport, and even then only when certain skaters are competing. Summer sport? None. I suffered through years of living with cricket fans...
3) What is the best winter treat? Self-saucing puddings, they are delicious and warming and comforting and happy food, but they really are only for special occasion luxuries. Summer treat? Ice cream of course.
4) What is the earliest time in the year it ever snowed where you live? The last time any snow at all fell here was in the last 70s, no idea what time of year - there were probably less than two dozen flakes on the hill and it not only made the local paper, people talked about it for ages. I have to admit, I have no idea how to twist this one for summer...
5) What is the best way to stay warm in the winter? Wrap up cozy with lots of layers and rugs, and stay close to the above heater, which gives an excellent excuse not to go out when we don't want to. Cool in the summer? Cold drinks, cool showers, swimming if people like to (I tend to drown, so don't much like) and the beloved aircon. I also find a spray of old-fashioned cologne (4711 for instance) gives a burst of coolness to overwarm skin....
