I think Watchers was the first Koontz book I read as well! I'm also working my way through the Barsoom books. I struggled with Chessman, I didn't like it as much as the books before it.

I think Watchers is a great introduction to Koontz; I think it's him at his best. If you like Watchers I think chances are you'll like a of his other books as well. I've always been very happy I started with that one - had I started with one of the ones I didn't like, I doubt I would have tried his other books at all.

I like the first four Barsoom books the best. In my mind that's "the first half" which is really good, and the rest are "the second half" which aren't as good. I feel like something changed starting with Chessmen but I can't be analytical about this series because the series as a whole is so etched on my brain that I can't quite pinpoint what it is.

1) What is the best book you've read?

That's impossible to answer. I change my mind too often.

2) What is the worst book you've read?

That should be easier, but there are still too many candidates.

3) What is a favourite book from childhood?

Alexander Key, *The Forgotten Door*, 4th grade.

4) What is a favourite book from adulthood?

Marilyn French,*Beyond Power*

5) What is a book you've read a number of times?

Well, the all-time winner is probably *The Hidden Staircase*, 2nd book in the Nancy Drew series, original blue-cover edition, first read it in second grade and have probably read it more than 50 times.

My answer to Question 1 was similar - I can manage the best book I've read recently.

I'm going to have to find Sleeper's Castle now. It sounds very interesting!
