Date: 2022-05-28 11:28 pm (UTC)1. Do you buy and use canned food? Yep - not a huge amount, but we usually have about a dozen assorted tins (I think, I've never counted) in the pantry at any given time.
2. What is your favourite canned food? Ummm, probably tinned diced tomatoes, since we have that in a lot of meals :) There's one specific brand of tomato soup (Campbell's Big Red) which is my go to when I'm not well. Then there's tinned fish, salmon, tuna and sardines in tomato sauce - the latter is hardly gourmet but good on toast - and we've just found a new product (well, new here), tinned sprats but we have that rarely.
Oh, and a hamburger is not a hamburger without tinned beetroot...
3. Do you like some canned food better than the fresh or dried version of it? Probably only the tomatoes and then only in the off season or when fresh tomatoes are pretty ordinary and hideously expensive (like right now, muttergrumble).
4. Do you have a can that just sits at the back of the cupboard? has anything weird happened to it? or do you still plan on using it in the future? Not really, we buy what we need and eat it reasonably quickly. Oh, except for that tin of Milo which Sis stopped drinking at night at one stage, but I'm not sure it counts.
There is a tin of sweetened condensed milk she bought for a slice that never got made, but it will keep until she needs to make another one :)
5. What is the weirdest thing you have seen canned? The Christmas dinner in a tin I posted about later last year. Ugh.
I've heard of other utterly weird if not wonderful tinned things people all over the world eat, some of them even worse (there are plenty of articles giving all the appetite-killing details all over the web), but even as curious as I tend to be, I'm not about to look too closely at the details.
