Date: 2023-05-14 02:30 am (UTC)1. What was the first album you ever bought? I'll have to go for the one I remember, which is possibly (probably) not the actual one, the latter having been lost on the misty mists of forgetfulness... umm. That's still difficult. But the earliest I can remember is a couple of the then popular and decently budgeted compilation albums of Aussie and overseas pop hits, maybe by K-Tel or someone like that. I didn't need to buy the classical music I was getting hooked on, since my parents had bought a collection of box set 'Great Composers' or something similar which kept me going for quite a while.
2. What format was it? (cassette, CD, other?) Pretty sure it was vinyl - that's how long ago it was!
3. How old were you? Teens, but don't ask me where in the teens.
4. Where did you hear it? I heard the songs on radio and TV, of course.
5. Did your parents approve? They didn't mind, they had their own older style of music to listen to (I never quite understood why the bought the classical box sets, since classical music was not at all their thing. Probably the same impulse that bought the navy and gold 'Great Books' set I dimly recall as well).
