1. When was the last time you wrote a check at a store? I don't think I ever have... Sis still has a cheque (Australian here) book for the gardener and the odd visit by Mr Fixit...

When was the last time you looked up something in a book? Just a few days ago, actually :) We'd been talking about names at work and I mentioned a quote that I’d once read about the name Deirdre that fitted someone I used to know so well, I have had problems with it every since... I went to look it up when I got home, and of course it turned out I'd recalled it in the wrong book, so I had to make a search for the quote in the right one. And it took a while because I kept stopping to read... I've now copied it down so I don't lose it again.

(For the record? From 'A State of Change' by Penelope Gilliant: "He called her Dreary sometimes instead of Deirdre and it seemed to make her a little cross." I still worked with the woman then and was forever scared stiff that I would do the same thing...)

3. When was the last time you used a dial phone? Ooooh, I can't remember, but it must have been at least 20-25 years ago when Mum and Dad had one...

4. When was the last time you played cards with actual paper cards? A couple of months ago, visiting a friend we played her favourite card game she calls 'oh hell' and I call 'that one I can never remember the rules of so you always win'... and we played with her kid's mini cards because that was the first pack she could lay hands on :)

When was the last time you talked to a stranger? I take it this is not work-related; when I go for a walk (in the evenings now, because the mornings are dark and cold), I share a few words with other walkers. Like the one yesterday whose little dog got his leash loose and tore up to say hello to me :)
