1. Where did you grow up and do you miss it?

I grew up outside of Atlanta, GA in the US. I left when I was not quite 19 and have not lived there since. I do not really miss it. No one that I knew is still there, plus it has changed a lot, so I do not recognize much when I do visit. Plus, the heat and traffic tend to annoy me now. We are surrounded by mountains where we live now and that is the topography I have come to love. I do miss access to many restaurants and things to do, plus an international airport.

2. Which are your three favorite words in the dictionary and why?

I have no idea; have never really thought about it.

3. What is a vegetarian dish that you really like?

I love cooking and experimenting with recipes, so picking a favorite dish is pretty hard for me...I guess if I had to pick it would be a Caprese tart that I make in the summer when fresh tomatoes are in season. I have to make it every year and it something I really look forward to.

4. What do you do when you have a misunderstanding with your friend?

I am pretty honest and straight forward, so if I think something is wrong, I ask questions and try to make it right.

5 What do you daydream about?

For fun; winning the lottery when it gets to an amount where I will buy a ticket. Travel, other than that.

Some of those lottery pots are pretty incredible. I haven't bought a ticket yet, but I'm tempted. And traveling is always excellent. :D

I usually will try (that is if I am out and remember) to buy a ticket once it goes over 300 million...it provides a little entertainment. Of course the lottery day dreams also involve more travel. ;-)

1. Where did you grow up and do you miss it?
West Yorkshire and no I don't miss it, I couldn't wait to get out. When I go back to visit family I have to remember that not everyone there is miserable like I was.

2. Which are your three favourite words in the dictionary and why?
I've never really thought about what my favourite words could be.

3. What is a vegetarian dish that you really like?
I am vegetarian and haven't really got a favourite, at the moment for something quick I usually cook mushroom mince with a sweet and sour sauce (the wee stir-fry packets) and add it to pasta or rice.

4. What do you do when you have a misunderstanding with your friend?
Give it five minutes then deal with it.

5 What do you daydream about?
Travelling.

I answered in my journal, but here are my answers:

Where did you grow up and do you miss it?

Here, there and everywhere? Texas, New Mexico, and Idaho, mostly small towns (smallest was 100 souls on a good day.) I am the country mouse in so many ways. Do I miss it? I miss my West Texas twang, believe it or not. (See here for a good example of how I sounded as a child.) I miss living somewhere that isn't so freaking white. But, there are reasons I chose to raise my children in a city and not a small town. I do not miss the lack of options, the conservative cultures, the patriarchy. I miss my grandmother's generation, those genteel Southern ladies. But I like being from Cascadia.

2. Which are your 3 favourite words in the dictionary and why?

Only three? Words will often strike me as "odd," and I will mull them over for a while, but these are the first three that come to mind today.

a. sobriquet. It's such an awesome word, and it basically means...nickname.
b. perambulate. Again, an awesome word that means something very basic.
c. pusillanimous. Another awesome word that's a great insult that has nothing to do with pussies.

3. What's a vegetarian dish that you really like?

My friend once made this awesome cornbread polenta lasagna? I do like smoked tempeh, I guess? Yeah, so not a vegetarian. More a paleo person.

4. What do you do when you have a misunderstanding with your friend?

Back off for a while and hope it goes away. Try to understand their point of view, and hope they return?

5. What do you daydream about?

Travel to different times and places. Books I'm reading. Living somewhere other than where I live. Lots of things, all the time.

Wow, I am intrigued with the polenta lasagna. I've never heard of that before.

I daydream a lot about traveling too, usually about our next trip and how nice this or that will be.
