1. Do you think you have a health lifestyle?
Not at the moment, but I have plans to make it better!

2. What could you do to improve it?
Eat better meals, snack/binge less, and be more active.

3. Are you tempted to eat every time you are hungry or do you wait for the next meal?
I've tempted to eat constantly; I can be full to the point of feeling sick and I'll still think "Some ice cream would be really good right now." I still do a pretty good job of waiting until my next meal/snack time though.

4. When are you most tempted to snack?
Constantly (see above)

5. Do you agree with the saying: "Eat your breakfast, share your lunch with a friend and give your dinner to your enemy" or do you think it matters?
I've never heard this saying before.

I'm tempted to eat constantly, too. :( I'm impressed that you manage to wait until the next meal! Any tips? M.

I keep some single-serving snacks in my desk at work - granola bars, trail mix packets, etc - but I don't keep a lot of snacks and I keep an eye on the time. So when I start getting hungry at 11, I tell myself "Hmm, you go on lunch in half an hour, may as well wait." If I get hungry at 2:30 pm, I allow myself one snack. This only really works during the work week though.

At home, I just don't keep a lot of snacks and I try to just cook one meal's worth of food at a time. If I have food ready to microwave in the fridge or if I have snacks lying around, I will graze constantly.

1. Do you think you have a health lifestyle?
Yes, at least for the last 15 years. I exercise 5-6 days per week (have done that for more than 25 years,) I do not eat processed food, fast food, drink soda, smoke ( I quit more than 25 years ago,) or use any recreational drugs. I take some supplements, but try to eat a well balanced diet. I cook most everything I eat and know where my food comes from (farmers, even in most restaurants.) I also try not to stress too much (that is what I struggle with the most.)

2. What could you do to improve it?
Not eat out at all, cut down on alcohol; I don't drink most nights, but on the weekend I have been known to over-indulge.

3. Are you tempted to eat every time you are hungry or do you wait for the next meal?
For a long time I have included snacks in my daily routine; they are nutritious snacks for the most part.

4. When are you most tempted to snack?
I would more likely call it grazing and that happens when I am drinking and/or socializing.

5. Do you agree with the saying: "Eat your breakfast, share your lunch with a friend and give your dinner to your enemy" or do you think it matters?
I really do not think it matters too much, although I think most people need to eat breakfast (I think not eating kind of sends your body into starvation mode) and I try to finish eating at least 2 hours before bed (too much food on my stomach keeps from sleeping well.)

Thanks! I have a couple of advantages in that I really like to exercise (I have my days where I dread it, like everyone else, but am always glad I pushed through) and cooking is my passionate hobby. Also, for quite a while I have thought that a lot of the illnesses that we suffer from today are because of the crap we put in our bodies (along with the plastics we use and the pollution in the ground and air,) so I am pretty militant about where my food comes from. The not drinking soda thing is just because I did not grow up in a family that drank stuff all the time (my husband did,) so I just make water my drink of choice.

Oh, so sorry about your back, but at least you have the swimming and walking. I swim once a week and except for having to get up earlier to do it; love it. Coincidently, I went to a personal training day with my husband back when we lived in DC that this guy who used to have a column with the Post held. He was a former power lifter that coached and tried to recruit me to join his team...At the time, I was not so in love with being as muscular as I have the ability to be, so (hopefully graciously) declined.

1. Do you think you have a health lifestyle?
Kind of. I mean I don't eat any meat or fish (but don't consider myself to be vegetarian) and I eat mostly healthy and am quite active in that I get out for a long walk everyday, living by the harbour helps because my neighbourhood is surrounded by coastline. I did used to go running twice a day six days a week when I was younger but weight issues (I became too thin for my height/ideal weight on the charts) and constant foot and knee injuries meant that I had to stop and I hate gyms.

2. What could you do to improve it?
Improving it would mostly involve cutting down on the crisps but that won't happen. Love my crisps far too much, to the point that I would live on them if I knew it wouldn't kill me. I'd maybe cut out diluted juice too, I already cut out fizzy juice with Irn Bru destroying itself (thanks to that horrid sugar tax) and that was the only fizzy juice that I actually liked.

3. Are you tempted to eat every time you are hungry or do you wait for the next meal?
No. I usually drink water (tap not bottled) as some hunger pangs are a sign of being thirsty for me.

4. When are you most tempted to snack?
During the week around 7pm or so because I'm usually a couple of hours after eating and getting a tad peckish by then. On a weekend it's a constant thing so I try to have some crisps in, usually those "share" size bags that are 90% air.

5. Do you agree with the saying: "Eat your breakfast, share your lunch with a friend and give your dinner to your enemy" or do you think it matters?
Never heard the saying. I try to eat breakfast most days unless I wake up feeling a tad ugh then I'll just have tea but when I do eat it it's usually toast or Rice Krispies, I rarely have lunch but when I do it's usually a sandwich or a hot meal if I'm out with friends. Dinner is the most important meal for me because I'm usually out all day and really hungry when I get home.
