1. Where did you travel on your last vacation or other big trip?
My last vacation was to the greater Cleveland area, in October 2019, to see [profile] alifijim and his concert band. The last big trip was to greater Pittsburgh to participate in Coasting for Kids for GKTW in September 2019.

2. What was the best trip you ever took? Where did you go, and with whom, and what made it so good?
I have "two" best trips. The first was going to California, with Mum, in summer 1996. It was my graduation present, and our first time to ever go to Disneyland. We flew out, stayed at the Disneyland Hotel in an upgraded room (free snacking all day, great view), and really had the most amazing time at the park. We also went to Knotts Berry Farm, which was cool to see!

The second best trip was last year, when Bruce and I drove to Virginia for Nat's wedding and to go to the Williamsburg/Jamestown area. It was my first, big solo trip in my new life. It was a great drive, nice hotels, awesome to be with my "chosen family", and amazing to finally see the historic sights that I'd long wanted to see.

3. Where do you dream of traveling on your next vacation when it's safe to travel again?
Erie, assuming that baseball is still there come 2021.

Just this week, I was talking to Natacha about the timeline of when she would defend her dissertation (she just submitted her draft to her committee this week!). She said it's looking like February or March of 2021. I asked if she'd want her "chosen family" there to support her, since dissertations are public, and she said she'd love that. I mentioned that to [personal profile] dalethria and she was all excited too. So, we might have a plan for that, if it's safe to travel. That would mean a trip to Dallas, TX, and then I'd make a point to go to Memphis to see Graceland; we went there when I was 5 or 6 years old, but I only have very vague memories of it. I'd like to see it as an adult, as much of an Elvis fan as I've grown up to be.

4. Where are you likely to actually travel to on your next vacation when it's safe?
Well, Erie and Dallas would both be possible.

5. Do you prefer to vacation to new places each time or to familiar places -- or maybe you prefer to stay home?
Yes. ;)

1. Where did you travel on your last vacation or other big trip?

We went to NW France (Brittany and Normandy) last fall.

2. What was the best trip you ever took? Where did you go, and with whom, and what made it so good?

I would have to say our first trip to Italy (first time outside the US) in 2000. It was a 14 day trip to North and Central Italy and it was scary, but gave both myself and my husband the travel bug. Since that first trip we have been to Europe a dozen more times and have learned so much about art, history, and other societies; I would not trade that for the world.

3. Where do you dream of traveling on your next vacation when it's safe to travel again?

We have a trip booked for September to fly to Nice. We have gotten no further in planning due to COVID and am not sure if it will happen in 2020.

4. Where are you likely to actually travel to on your next vacation when it's safe?

Probably fly into Nice and then explore Roman ruins in the South of France.

5. Do you prefer to vacation to new places each time or to familiar places -- or maybe you prefer to stay home?

Either totally new or a mixture of new and familiar. I find that I cannot get enough of Florence, Rome, Paris, etc..

1. Where did you travel on your last vacation or other big trip?
Glasgow in December which was the last time my mum and Brian came up to Scotland for a week long visit. I live in Aberdeen and most of what we did was planned a few months in advance and were a lot easier to get to from Glasgow and there's no way they'll get on a bus at 3:30am to start a day out so it made sense to stay there. I also went to Leeds at the end of January for a weekend to see mum and Brian and also got to the first game of the new super league season.

2. What was the best trip you ever took? Where did you go, and with whom, and what made it so good?
NYC in 2014 I went by myself and celebrated my 30th birthday which is huge itself because I never do anything to mark birthdays at all.

3. Where do you dream of travelling on your next vacation when it's safe to travel again?
For next year I'm looking at San Sebastian in January and I'm torn between a 22 day trip that takes in some of east coast Canada and most of the west coast and east coast USA. The USA trip is on Travelbag as two separate trips but I sometimes like to combine multi-stop trips. The other option is 10 days in Borneo. To do two or even all three I'd have to work a ton of extra hours on my second contract.

4. Where are you likely to actually travel to on your next vacation when it's safe?
This year is looking more unlikely but if restrictions are lifted enough then Ireland in August and Billund in October.

5. Do you prefer to vacation to new places each time or to familiar places -- or maybe you prefer to stay home?
Usually new places but sometimes I like to visit places again at different times of the year. When I do (and I hate the term) staycations I tend to travel around Scotland and those trips coincide with my mum and Brian coming up for a visit.

1. Where did you travel on your last vacation or other big trip? The last really big one was Britain and western Europe via Singapore. That was a looong time ago: once Sis retires we have ideas for more travel, the world and my dodgy hip permitting.

2. What was the best trip you ever took? Where did you go, and with whom, and what made it so good? Same one. We went around on our own, visiting our own three C's - cemeteries, cathedrals, castles - also museums and all sorts of historical stuff. It's just us.

3. Where do you dream of traveling on your next vacation when it's safe to travel again? We'd like to go to Wales and Ireland and trace where our ancestors lived.

There's also the Australian ghost town thing, though as we are older, the buy-a-Winnibego idea has been replaced by picking ghost towns reasonably near to comfy hotels :)

4. Where are you likely to actually travel to on your next vacation when it's safe? To visit the relatives we have spent the last months worrying about… okay, not exciting but quite definitely my choice.

5. Do you prefer to vacation to new places each time or to familiar places -- or maybe you prefer to stay home? I'm happy to stay home and visit imaginary places in my mind. Alternately a mixture of the familiar for basing the trip, and then branch out a bit to new places (sometimes without meaning to, things just happen...)
