It's a seemingly never ending task - grocery shopping.

1. Do you make up a dinner plan for the coming week?

2. Do you make up a shopping list and stick to it when shopping?

3. What is one thing that you always buy, but never put down on a list?

4. Is there anything that you always think you are out of and come home with it to discover you already have a year’s supply on hand?

5. Do you get your groceries delivered?

1. Do you make up a dinner plan for the coming week?
Somewhat. I plan what I'm going to eat for lunch and I figure out dinner as I shop.

2. Do you make up a shopping list and stick to it when shopping?
Occasionally, but not often. I usually only make a list if I'm trying a new recipe, or if I need to buy more than usual for some reason.

3. What is one thing that you always buy, but never put down on a list?
I tend to grab a pound of pasta about 75% of the time when I shop.

4. Is there anything that you always think you are out of and come home with it to discover you already have a year’s supply on hand?
Vanilla extract. I have three bottles of it in my kitchen cabinet right now.

5. Do you get your groceries delivered?
Because I'm just shopping for myself, I do not. If I was cooking/shopping for more than one person I would probably be more likely to at least plan meals in advance, but I'm still not sure on grocery delivery. I have two supermarkets within walking distance of my home so it just seems kind of wasteful when I drive right past them anyway.

1. Do you make up a dinner plan for the coming week?
I've not done that for ages, I tend to just cook and eat when I feel hungry but now that I have a new cooker I may try to start doing that again.

2. Do you make up a shopping list and stick to it when shopping?
Nope. I tend to buy the same things all of the time so I just get what I need to stock up on.

3. What is one thing that you always buy, but never put down on a list?
Instant noodles.

4. Is there anything that you always think you are out of and come home with it to discover you already have a year’s supply on hand?
Teabags and orange and mango flavour diluting juice.

5. Do you get your groceries delivered?
Sometimes. Usually for the more awkward and bulky items that are tricky to carry home on the bus (taxis are too expensive in Aberdeen) and also for a huge stock up when the freezer and cupboards are almost empty. Delivery orders are also good for booze stock up too.

I don't drive so sometimes I have to use delivery unfortunately they don't bring the crates in, just to the door and the rest is for me to do.

I get to specify the day and time of the delivery at the checkout/payment stage of ordering.

This is a neat thing!

1. Do you make up a dinner plan for the coming week?

Yes. It is a bone of contention too. I ask the rest of the family what they want and they stare blankly. I feel anxious about decision making though. And then if things cause a deviation from the plan after it is set it makes me anxious. Sometimes I can state that 'mince' is the meat and force a deliberation between chili, spag bol ect.

2. Do you make up a shopping list and stick to it when shopping?

I live with my parents so they do the majority of the shopping list and then I ask for things I would like to eat that week (I send money each month) and then I specify ingredients for the meals I planned.

3. What is one thing that you always buy, but never put down on a list?

As far as I am aware; bread, milk, margarine, various cheeses and meats for the dogs, diet cola for mum, pepsi max for me, irn bru for dad, a bottle of red wine for dad, bag of potatoes, mars bars for dad, cheese, ham, tuna.

4. Is there anything that you always think you are out of and come home with it to discover you already have a year’s supply on hand?

Not me. I always check the cupboards before I go to a shop or add something to a list. My mum however seems to constantly buy tomato paste and pasta. It has got to the point where you open one of our cupboard and get assaulted by bags of pasta falling on you.

5. Do you get your groceries delivered?

Not in general but if we have a hectic schedule we do. If my parents are on holiday for two weeks or more I tend to order a delivery so that I can get heavier things without worrying or doing my back in.

1. Do you make up a dinner plan for the coming week?
No. I decide for this evening based on what's in the fridge/veg rack, what I feel like and how tired I am.

2. Do you make up a shopping list and stick to it when shopping?
We add things to a shopping list as we run out of them, notice we are low on them or use some of them (depending on how much of the thing we usually have in stock). Shopping is mostly stuff from the list but with the occasional whim.

3. What is one thing that you always buy, but never put down on a list?
I don't think there is a thing in this category?

4. Is there anything that you always think you are out of and come home with it to discover you already have a year’s supply on hand?
There have been instances of this with cornflour and with dried split peas.

5. Do you get your groceries delivered?
Yes. We get a veg box most weeks from a local person (who is more about getting veg available affordably in our area than being organic, but she does try), and we get a supermarket delivery every two or three weeks. When I'm at home more, I'll probably start getting dry stuff from the wholefood wholesalers again.

1. Do you make up a dinner plan for the coming week? Sis does the cooking, she has a loose idea each week of what she wants to make or at least what main ingredients she wants, what she does with them is subject to change without notice...

2. Do you make up a grocery shopping list and stick to it when shopping? If I'm doing it, yep, absolutely and strictly. If we're both doing it, looser and depending on specials or what sometimes looks interesting or we see and remember we've forgotten.

3. What is one thing that you always buy, but never write down on a list? Cheese. Tomatoes. And coffee doesn't go on the list, because we grab a big time whenever it's on special.

4. Is there anything that you always think you are out of and come home with it to discover you already have a year’s supply on hand? Bathroom stuff, we have a LOT of bodywash and toothpaste in the cupboard...

5. Do you get your groceries delivered? Nope, wouldn't unless we couldn't for some reason go ourselves (we do the main shop early Saturday morning). How can you pick over the fruit and veggies that way???

The employees they get to do the click and collect for people are usually teenagers or very young, and I've seen them in store, they don't really look over the food, just bag what comes to hand. Not what we want at all.

1. Do you make up a dinner plan for the coming week?

Yes; I have been doing that for about 20 years. When both my husband and I had long commutes to demanding jobs, it helped us cook on the weekend for the coming week's lunches and dinners. Now, it just lets me organize and try new recipes, plus make sure I am using pantry items and extra veggies.

2. Do you make up a shopping list and stick to it when shopping?

Yes, see above.

3. What is one thing that you always buy, but never put down on a list?

Nothing really. I make my own desserts (and plan that as well,) so the ingredients need to be on the list.

4. Is there anything that you always think you are out of and come home with it to discover you already have a year’s supply on hand?

Not often. Some years ago, I somehow collected three boxes of corn starch (it took a while to get through that,) but that is all I can recall.

5. Do you get your groceries delivered?

No. When we lived in a big city and it first started, we tried it, but were not huge fans. It has just become available here now, but I get most of my produce from farmers and am picky about meat and seafood, so...
